Punisher's Crypt Formula

FOR L/D ONLY

boss%20fight%20start_edited.jpg

December 24th 2020

My goal with this guide is that by the time you are done reading this your understanding for this dungeon will be somewhat to significantly improved as well as you knowing all your options to use as of today. Now since one of the last updates, they made every boss do the exact same skills on every level, aka Punisher's Crypt B1 through B10 use all the same skills, same AI, same everything. Of course the stats go up as well as resistance which can get tricky. As your rune quality goes up, so does your floor level but the strategy never changes. Every dungeon basically has a formula to have the best chance of beating it safely.

The Punisher's Crypt boss is the most complicated boss in cairos by far and even more difficult for us L/D only users since if you choose to use more than 1 dark monster then you lose the tank vs boss unless every dark monster on your team is very tanky. Since the boss is light element, she will only attack dark monsters if available except AOE attacks of course. So let's have a look at her skills.

The first and most important thing you need to know is that whatever you attack on boss fight (ether crystal towers or boss) will instantly gain a turn if the skill used against it has an attack bar reducing capability. Like Fran, her s1 has a chance to reduce attack bar, if successful, the monster attacked will gain a turn instantly. Which as you can imagine can become very overwhelming. The longer the fight goes on, the more powerful the boss becomes as she gains more turns and basically after 20 turns, she will wipe your team with an AOE ignore armor attack. The boss also has a passive that reduces damage taken, increases her damage done and their attack bar is increased when you attack them all based on their attack speed so stripping speed buff and applying speed reducing effects are very useful here . The left tower cleanses the boss and applies AOE attack break on us and the right tower increases attack bar of lowest hp ratio ally and gives speed buff. Now for this run to go smoothly we really need to get rid of that left tower or else we won't make much progress with the boss.

There is a basic formula for almost literally every aspect of the game

You need 1-2 damage dealers, 1-2 support monsters may that be healers or buffers or cleansers and you need some kind of crowd control monster that can preferably AOE control to keep your team alive and of course hopefully there is a good leader skill in there to furthermore buff your stats. So, how does one counter this as L/D only? Lets go through it step by step with the most viable monsters available to most. We are going to use the light monster x4 and 1 dark tank monster strategy! We are going to focus mini boss ignoring towers. Lastly, against main boss, we are going to kill the LEFT tower then kill the boss. You can also try killing left tower then right tower then boss if that is more stable for you.

(I won’t be going over every monsters entire skillsets, just what is relevant for each section.)

You can see in picture above just before Elsharion attacks where the attack bar of the xtal is and the picture below shows how much attack bar it got from being hit and that is without speed buff.

Our most viable dark tanks:

Ideally we want someone that can deal continuous damage on s1 so that counters apply continuous damage to kill boss faster since she takes so many turns, rune the dark tank with around 30k hp and full revenge runes if possible for maximum dots potential.

  • Jultan (Dark Werewolf) is the most common reliable dark tank for this dungeon.

  • Camules (Dark Elemental) to my surprise actually was just as reliable and faster than Jultan by 15-20% which puts him as the best choice for this specific job for f2p.

  • Janssen (Dark Viking) is easier to rune tanky but his s1 dots not guaranteed so there are better choices.

  • Jumaline (Dark High Elemental) can work but is very hard to rune tanky enough and keep her crit rate high for her passive to work well, however, still an option that can work! however dots not guaranteed so there are still better choices.

  • Loque (Dark Imp Champion) is an excellent choice but his base stats are so low since he is only a Nat 3*  so he is very rune hungry but if you have the rune quality he can be amazing!

  • Gina (Dark Witch) she can work but there are many better choices although her s2 strip can be useful!

  • Karakum (Dark Mummy) can work but his s1 dots are not guaranteed.

  • Of course there are several other good Nat 4 and Nat 5 options but I won’t go through those as I think you get the idea by now.

To strip his speed buff:

We can only use light monsters here so that they wont be a target throughout dungeon while avoiding monsters that attack bar reduce.

  • Elsharion (Light Ifrit) is our best option by far as he consistently steals speed buff every turn and gives to whole team.

  • Eshir (Light Werewolf) his strip is very reliable but in no way can keep up with the speed buff on boss, so there are better options.

  • 2A Cheryl (Light Pixie) is actually a pretty good option since her strip only a 2 turn cool down plus applies a dot.

  • Walkers (Light Bounty Hunter) is reliable with his stip but cannot keep up with the buffs therefore there are better options.

  • Eludain (Light Inferno) I add this monster here because he can strip but I do not recommend using his as he is probably the worse strip on this list due to slow stats and long cool down.

  • Elpuria (Light Serpent) not recommended since she does attack bar reduction and will give boss many turns.

  • Loren (Light Cow Girl) not recommended since she does attack bar reduction and will give boss many turns.

  • Belladeon (Light Inugami) not recommended if 2a since she does attack bar reduction and will give boss many turns! If NOT 2a, she can be used here as a great option!

  • Of course there are several other good Nat 4 and Nat 5 options but I won’t go through those as I think you get the idea by now.

To apply dots since boss takes a lot of turns:

Once again, we can only use light monster here prefferably one that does not manipulate attack bar.

  • Elsharion (Light Ifrit) this monster is an amazing option for this dungeon as he fits many purposes.

  • Cheryl (Light Pixie) another good option for this dungeon as she fits multiple purposes.

  • Jansson (Light Viking) this monster does apply s1 dots but not guaranteed so there are better options.

  • Priz (Light Elemental) is a good option here but too bad his passive doesn't apply to light monsters.

  • Shren (Light High elemental) can be a good option here as she can apply dots though not reliable and can also be a solid backup healer for dark tank and herself.

  • Sia (Light Harpu) I do not recommend using her since she has a skill that reduced attack bar which would give the boss extra turns.

  • Shaffron (Light Imp Champion) can be a good option here since can apply a lot of dots to boss with his counter attack skill.

  • Linda (Light Witch) has a good dot application s1 but doesn't provide too much else for this dungeon in particular.

  • Glinodon (Light Lizardman) can apply dots but with a low chance but does provide other useful effects like beneficial effect block and defense break which both are great here, so overall a descent option for this dungeon.

  • Sahara (Light Mummy) does apply dots with s1 but not very reliable and does not bring much else for this dungeon.

  • Of course there are several other good Nat 4 and Nat 5 options but I won’t go through those as I think you get the idea by now.

Healers:

Again, light only monsters.

  • Jansson (Light Viking) provides minimal aoe healing with huge attack bar boost, the healing does not really justify his position here for the amount of damage the whole team takes but paired with a monster like Ahman he is actually a good option.

  • Teon (Light Garuda) this monster can actually do a great job here plus provides good turn cycling and can rez in case of a death.

  • Shren (Light High Elemental) is a great back up healer but cannot heal a whole team on her own as her healing is just for 1 unit and herself. (Great back up healer for dark tank)

  • Ahman (Light Bearman) is one of the best options for this dungeon as he heals a lot every single turn and does no give boss any extra turns.

  • Tien Quin (Light Drunken Master) is a great option for a very aggressive team makeup.

  • Fran (Light Fairy Queen) does give the boss extra turns with her s1 but her kit is just so amazing that you can use her and she more than makes up for giving the boss a few turns.

  • Neal (Light Fairy) can be a backup healer and completely protect the dark tank in dire need.

  • Belladeon (Light Inugami) is a great healing option for this dungeon unlessyou 2a her, then do not use her, she will give many turns to the boss.

  • Shamann (Light Griffon) can actually do some pretty descent healing with s1 and can be used in an aggressive style team makeup.

  • Shushu (Light Howl) is a pretty good option as a healer overall, solid solo healer.

  • Eshir (Light Werewolf) provides a smaller aoe heal and speed buff which can be useful, not a bad option as a secondary healer.

  • Of course there are several other good Nat 4 and Nat 5 options but I won’t go through those as I think you get the idea by now.

Leaders:

When it comes to leaders in Cairos you want more Speed/ Attack Power/ Critical Rate/Health Points or Defense. You should be runeing Accuracy into your monsters and don’t waste your time with Resistance.

Attack power leaders:

  • Prom (Light Grim Reaper) 30% attack power to light only.

  • Loren (Light Cow Girl) 18% attack power to all.

  • Elsharion (Light Ifrit) 33% attack power to all.

  • Shamman (Light Griffon) 30% attack power to light only.

  • Hellea (Dark Harpy) 30% attack power to dark only.

  • Thrain (Dark Grim Reaper) 30% attack power to dark only.

  • Cassie (Dark Cow Girl) 18% attack power to all.

  • Eirgar (Dark Vampire Lord) 38% attack power in dungeons.

Speed leaders:

  • Walkers (Light Bounty Hunter) 23% speed to light only.

  • Fran (Light Fairy Queen) 10% speed to all.

  • Rumicus (Light Charger Shark) 23% speed to light only.

  • Lucien(Light Elven Ranger) 15% speed to all.

  • Janssen (Dark Viking) 10% speed to all.

  • Calicus (Dark Charger Shark) 23% speed to dark only.

Health points leaders:

  • Teon (Light Garuda) 17% health points to dungeons.

  • Groggo (Light Golem) 30% health points to light only.

  • Grotau (Light Minotaur) 30%health points to light only.

  • Baekdu (Light Beast Hunter) 21% health points to dungeons.

  • Dona (Light Penguin Knight) 30%health points to light only.

  • Lusha (Light Warbear) 15% health points to all.

  • Kumae (Dark Yeti) 25% health points to dark only.

  • Kamatau (Dark Minotaur) 30% health points to dark only.

  • Kuna (Dark Penguin Knight) 30% health points to dark only.

  • Veromos (Dark Ifrit) 33% health points to all.

Defense leaders:

  • Sia (Light Harpu) 25% defense to light only.

  • Ahman (Light Bearman) 30% defense to light only.

  • Marble (Light Battle Mammoth) 30% defense to light only.

  • Seren (Dark Harpu) 25% defense to dark only.

  • Haken (Dark Bearman) 30% defense to dark only.

  • Basalt (Dark Battle Mammoth) 30% defense to dark only.

Critical rate leaders:

  • Eludain (Light Inferno) 23% critical rate to light only.

  • Shren (Light High Elemental) 23% critical rate to light only.

  • Drogan (Dark Inferno) 23% critical rate to dark only.

  • Jumaline (Dark High Elemental) 23% critical rate to dark only.

Note: These are all the leaders available for F2P but some are definitely better than others. I just don’t want to limit your creativity :)

Of course there are several other good Nat 4 and Nat 5 options but I won’t go through those as I think you get the idea by now.

Crowd control:

In my opinion there is no specific crowd control needed for this dungeon as the monsters in this dungeon are all light element so they will always attack your 1 dark monster which we will make very tanky on purpose for this exact reason. All your other units will not be hit except aoe attacks which you will have a healer or two with you keeping them safe. However, I do recommend the following stats for things to run smoothly.

General stat requirements:

To be put simply, you want your dark tank to be able to take a hit from at least 3 towers and survive, everyone else, assuming they are all light monster, will not take any damage except from aoe attacks. In any case, these are the stats you should have at the BARE minimum for Steel Fortress B10 for things to go well. Keep in mind these calculations are WITH MAX glory towers / MAX guild bonuses but NO leader skills.

  • Dark tank needs 25k+ Health Points (If you have more HP then this then you can have a bit less defense).

  • Other units need 17000 Health points (If you have more HP then this then you can have a bit less defense).

  • 1000 Defense (If you have more defense than this then you can have a bit less hp).

  • 170 Speed (To ensure you get a turn before the 169 speed enemy monsters).

  • 29% Accuracy needed on monsters that apply (for all the monsters applying dots or strips). Not sure why the developers made the accuracy needed so much lower than other dungeons but just take it! :P

Due to popular demand, I also have rough calculations on required stats WITHOUT ANY towers / guild bonuses or leader skills.

  • Dark tank needs 28k+ (Depends how high the monsters base Health points are)

  • Other units need 19500 - 21500 Health points (Depends how high the monsters base Health points are)

  • 1200 - 1350 Defense (Depends how high the monsters base defense is)

  • 185 - 195 Speed (Depends how high the monsters base speed is)

  • Note: These calculations are without a leader skill as calculating all leader skill potentials would take forever. So if you just can't match the health points requirement then use a HP leader to close the gap as an example.

If all your towers and guild bonuses are about half way then you need about half way in between the two stat requirements I previously mentioned. The most  important thing is that all your monsters move before any of the enemies. In these following 4 pictures you can see that your team is in no danger of dying vs waves even if 4 towers get to attack.

Yup, those are the only stats you really need to know for now. Obviously, your support units and healers are at least this tanky but probably tankier by the time you are ready for B10. Your damage dealers however, are a bit more tricky to rune since you want to squeeze every ounce of damage stats in as you can. SO, for damage dealers, meet the above requirements then everything else is damage stats! IF you just cant seem to get those tankier stats on your damage dealers, consider using an HP/ Def leader, having a unit on shield runes or equipping artifacts that have a minus light damage reduction sub stat. IF you have just tried everything and it just seems a bit out of your league, I recommend staying in B9 a bit longer till you find a few more rune upgrades on your current team as the stat requirements (including speed for trash only) are roughly 10%- 15% less overall). Damage dealers should have at least 1500 Attack/Defense, 70% crit rate and 150% crit damage at the bare minimum.

Summary:

Now that you see what you need and your options are laid before you, now you get to pick what you want to use. Yes, there are a lot of options, yes there are overall better options than others and yes with good enough runes literally any combination is possible to beat it with as long as you follow the formula. Just remember that you need dots galore against this boss, 1 stripper for sure to remove his speed buff often and the most important part is the dark tank to soak in most of the damage. If possible have him on revenge so he can revenge a lot to apply s1 dots.

There are many nat 4 and 5 monsters I did not touch on since you ether need to have gotten the Hall of Heroes or need to have summoned it. I will leave it to your digression to look at your uncommon monsters skill sets and see if they fit better than any of the F2P options. I will however answer any questions, do more focused guides, advanced guides and expand on the options as time goes on. This is mostly so you understand the dungeon without me telling you exactly what you should be doing, more like just guiding you, thus this GUIDE ;)

Theory crafting:

Now, lets go over some of the most commonly used monsters, this applies to ALL levels depending on rune quality.

Lets say your trying a more aggressive team to start. Note: I did not go over damage dealers as the sky is the limit since anyone can really be runed to deal descent damage. I will let you experiment but I will give advice of course :) When building a team in almost every situation you want your Attack bar controls (not in this perticular dungeon tho!) / Defense breakers/ Buffers/ Strippers to move before any damage dealers. In this dungeon you want to avoid any attack bar reduction to prevent giving boss additional turns and you really want dotsssss!

  • Loren (our favorite shooter, we literally use her everywhere, so what could go wrong right? attack bar reducer and stripper/ def break)

  • Eshir (speed buff and healing and strip! sounds good to me)

  • Fran (L) (another L/D account favorite, super healing and great buffs, bit of attack bar reduction and attack break)

  • Shamann (we need a damage dealer and he also heals!)

  • Jultan (most common and reliable dark tank for this and bring def break/ reflect damage on crit vs him and dots, although I have recently discovered that Camules is in fact better!)

... Yeah you got me, I ignored my own advice and brought our beloved Fran Loren combo. Guess what, I made it to boss but the boss got so many turns I died before he was even 3/4 HP. Okay, lesson learned. I also noticed Eshir wasn't enough to stip very often without Loren since we are replacing her for sureee..... hmm let's try this again!

  • Walkers (L) (better speed leader, damage dealer and stripper)

  • Eshir

  • Ahman (epic reliable healing every turn)

  • Shamann

  • Jultan

This team did better, the boss was half hp but then had taken 20 turns and wiped my team eventully. What am I doing wrong? Oh crap! Where are my dots? Only Jultan has dots, but I guess it's not enough. Okay, let's try this one last time and really try to use my monsters to their max potential!

  • Elsharion (L) (saved the best for last, every turn stripper stealing boss speed buff making us not need Eshir anymore, also deals dots! and provide def break)

  • Ahman

  • Fran (the kit she provides is just too good, we are willing to give a turn to the boss on rare occasion but also attack break!)

  • Shamann

  • Jultan

Okay, this team is doing better! No one is dying and the boss dies before he takes 20 turns! Good enough for me. Now there are things we could do to speed this up but at least it's a great start. All you can do is go up from here!

Notice this team has 1-2 Damage dealers, 1-2 supports/healers and crowd control (not really in this dungeon but you get the idea). If you are still failing you are too high on the levels and need to go down a notch and increase rune quality once more. Just remember that x1 dark tank, x4 light mons, stripper, lots of dots and no attack bar reducing skills! Except Fran, she's allowed ;)

I hope this all somewhat makes sense and that it helped, if it helped at least one person then it was worth it! In the future I will be making speed team guides!

Here is what your run should look like running smoothly!
