SW Terminology 101

As the title states, I will be going over some Summoners War terminology just so that in case some people are unfamiliar with certain abbreviations, they can always refer here for help. Don't read too much into the categories, it was just to somewhat sort them :)

Stat related terminology

  • Att = attack

  • Def = defense

  • Spd = speed

  • Hp = health points

  • Cr = critical rate

  • Cd = critical damage

  • Res = resistance

  • Acc = accuracy

Content related terminology

  • Meta = most effective tactics available

  • Ld = light dark

  • 2A = second awakened

  • Gb = giant's Keep

  • Db = dragon's Lair

  • Nb = necropolis

  • Sf = steel fortress

  • Pc = punisher's crypt

  • R1-5 = raid level 1-5

  • Gw = guild war (guild battle)

  • R 1-12, Y 1-12, B1-12 = when in a siege battle referring to a specific tower (Hey guys! Hit Y7 and take the tower!)

  • +6 rule = only hit up to +6 in GW

  • Lab = Tartarus's labyrinth

  • Tart = Tartarus 

  • Toa = trial of ascension

  • Toan= trial of ascension normal

  • Toah = trial of ascension hard

  • Toahell = trial of ascension hell

  • Sd = secret dungeon

  • Ai = artificial intelligence

  • Procs = when a skill or rune (like violent) or effects/ passives have a chance to activate. (we call it proc) (that darn Perna vio proc'd 4 times in a row!)

  • Ad = arena defense

  • Ao = arena offence

  • Rush hour = 1 hour before arena closure for the week on Sunday nights for America.

  • Twins = Chakram Dancers and Boomerang Warriors are twins that dominate PvE and PvP

  • Nat 1-5* = natural summoned 1-5*

  • Natty = a nat 5*

  • Stripper = a monster that is capable of removing beneficial effects from enemies

  • Nuke = a unit that can hit VERY hard

  • Burst = a lot of damage quickly

  • Cleave = being able to AOE kill most if not all enemy units with one skill. (usually requires setup)

  • Setup = a team of monsters that specializes in optimizing a specific monsters skill to do it's worse. (Lushen requires a setup, usually attack bar booster, then attack buffer BEFORE his turn happens)

  • Synergy = When 2or more monsters complement each others skills very well. (Fran and Kro have good synergy, Fran attack buffs Kro then Kro hit's very hard!)

  • Speed Team = a team that finishes runs quickly but usually less stable than a slower safe team

  • Bruiser = a damage dealer unit that is hard to kill

  • Glass cannon = a unit that has low hp and defense, easy to kill but deals devastating damage

  • Sustain = a unit or skill that keeps the team alive with healing or damage absorption.

  • Dd = damage dealer

  • Tank/ tanky = unit that has a lot of Health and defense, hard to kill

  • Wings = arena wings

  • Dhole = dimension hole

  • Predator = dimension predator

  • Towers = the towers you can purchase with glory points

  • Flags = the flags you can purchase with guild points

  • Stats = statistics on each monster

  • Dim rifts = dimensional rifts

  • Pvp = player versus player

  • Pve = player versus environment

  • Rank = the entire game is ranked, from beginner, Challenger 1,2,3 *(Bronze star), Fighter 1,2,3* (Silver star), Conqueror 1,2,3* (Gold star), Guardian 1,2,3* (Red star) and Legend #1

  • Rta = real time arena (world arena)

  • HoH = hall of heroes (opens first weekend after a friday each month)

  • B1-12 = levels of difficulty in each dungeon, 1 being easiest and 12 being hardest. Not all dungeons go up to 12

  • Cool down = every monster skill has a cool down, an amount of turns you need to wait till you can use the skill again

  • Farming = running a dungeon or level over and over and over

  • Auto farm = in game feature that does the farming for you

  • Frr = free rune removal (first saturday of the month that comes after a friday that same month)

Effects/ Skills related terminology​

  • Aoe = area of effect (effects every enemy or ally or both)

  • Debuffs = various adverse effects

  • Buff = beneficial effect

  • Dots = damage over time

  • Hots = healing over time

  • Block = beneficial Effects Block skill

  • Heals = healing

  • Rock on = light Homunculus skill

  • Unbalanced field = dark Homunculus skill

  • Turning point = light Homunculus skill

  • Counter phase = light Homunculus skill

  • S1-S4 = monster skill 1 is called S1, monster skill 2 is called S2, monster skill 3 is called S3 and monster skill 4 is called S4

  • Att buff = attack beneficial effect

  • Def break = defense break

  • Reflect = reflect damage

  • Def buff = defense beneficial effect

  • Passive = a skill that is not usable but that is always active and will active under right circumstance.

  • Att bar = attack bar (once full you get your turn)

  • Att bar booster = monsters that have a skill that increase attack bar

  • Att bar control = monsters that can reduce enemy attack bars

 

Chat related terminology

 

  • Def wins = defense wins in siege/ guild battle or arena

  • Omg = Oh my god

  • Thx = thanks

  • Rez = resurrection

  • Counter = what counters certain monsters and strategies

  • Comp = compilation ( team makeup)

  • Unfair bear = panda Warriors

  • Rider = beast Riders

  • Bj5 = Beleygr and Janssen team setup R5

  • Gz/ gs = congratulations

  • Tilted = really mad/ annoyed

  • Troll/ trolled = someone is making you/ people mad on purpose to get reactions

  • Pls/ plz = please

  • Wc = wrong chat

  • Mt = miss type

  • Sw = summoners war

  • Irl = in real life

  • Pr = personal record

  • Wb / wb = world boss or welcome back

  • Afk = away from keyboard

  • Ez = easy

  • Brb = be right back

  • Gtg = got to go

  • Ofc = of course

  • Cc = crowd control (stuns, provokes, sleeps and freezes)

  • Rng = random number generator, basically LUCK.( rng was against me in that fight)

  • Speed tuning = making sure your units move in the turn order that you want them too very closely in speed to each other so that you dont get cut

  • Getting cut = when enemy unit moves in front of your turn

  • Stack = adding on (certain skills stack, certain passives stack, certain debuffs stack)

  • Idk = i dont know

  • Idc = i dont care

  • Lol = laugh out loud

  • Rofl = roll on the floor laughing

  • Imo = in my opinion.

  • Op = over powered (very strong)

  • Dupe = duplicate monster

  • Wtg = way to go

  • Mk = monkey King.

  • Bk = barbarian King

  • Dk = death knight or dragon knight

  • FL = front Line (referring to raids)

  • BL = back Line (referring to raids)

  • Lmk = let me know

  • Gl = good Luck

  • Rep = the monster users let other people borrow once a day

  • exp / xp = experience

  • Dc / dcd = disconnected

  • Lightning/ sparks = the cinematic you get when you are summoning something special

  • Devil/ Angel/ Super/ Rainbow = Devilmon, Angelmon, Super Angelmon and Rainbowmon

  • Ess = essence

  • Faimon reset = players that start a new account and play till they clear Faimon scenario for L/D scroll and hope for a good summon, if not, they reset account and try again

  • Down = killed, defeated

  • Tbh = to be honest

  • Delete after = if someone let's you add them, delete them after you use their Rep

  • Ch = channel

  • RIP = rest in peace

  • Lf = looking for

  • Thicc = well runed, a lot of stats

  • beefy = well runed, a lot of stats

  • SWC = summoners War championship

  • Nurf/ nerf = monster was made worse

  • P2w = pay to win ( regular in game purchases)

  • P2p = pay to play

  • F2p = free to play (never or nearly never make in game purchases)

  • Whale = player who buys a LOT of in game packs

  • Meta = main stream (most commonly used monsters or strategies)

  • Noob/ nub/ newb = new player

  • Yolo = you only live once

  • Niche = very unusual or used in very rare circumstances

  • Clutch = unexpected, sketchy (it was a very clutch win)

  • Inv = invite

Rune/ Artifact/ Special item related terminology:

  • Roll = when you power up a rune to +3, +6, +9 and +12 you gain a sub stat or add on to an existing sub stat, it can roll well or poorly. Every stat has a minimum and a maximum roll

  • Normal rune = white rune

  • Magic rune = green rune

  • Rare rune = blue rune

  • Hero rune = purple rune

  • Leg rune= orange rune

  • Leg = legendary

  • Slot 1-6 = there are 6 rune slots that can be equipped on each monster, slot 1 through 6

  • Inate = stat attached to MAIN stat of a rune

  • Set = every rune belongs to a set, if you complete the set you gain additional bonuses

  • Flat stat = A stat that is not a %, as an example, there is HP% but then there is just HP

  • Pp1 / pp2 = premium pack 1 and premium pack 2

  • Homie/ homu = Homunculus (craftable unit in craft building)

  • SS/ SS = summoning stones / shape shifting stones

  • Xmog = transmogrify (changing your monsters look via transmogrify building with shape shifting stones)

  • Ms = mystical scroll

  • Ls = legendary scroll

  • Ts = transcendence scroll

  • Arty = artifact but can also be Artamiel

  • Reapp = reappraisal stone 

  • Grind = grindstone (improve a stat)

  • Gem = enchanted gem (change a stat)

  • Xtals = crystals (in game currency)
